Master in Healthcare Quality and Safety

How to Apply

All applicants will be required to submit the following materials:

An updated CV detailing your relevant education and experience.

A one-page description of your career goals that includes a description of how the MHQS degree meets your educational objectives.

Your personal statement should include the following:

  • A brief summary of your background and current role in healthcare
  • A description of why you are interested in the program and how you feel the program could advance your professional career goals
  • Consider sharing one or more examples of improvement opportunities in your environment that you would like to work on in the program (optional)

Unofficial transcripts from all past undergraduate and graduate degrees*. Official transcripts will be requested if you are accepted into the program.

*If any of your degrees were received from outside of the United States, you will be required to submit Evaluated Transcripts in place of Unofficial Transcripts. On the application homepage, please choose “Certifile” to send your Evaluated Transcripts.

*If you are currently a HQS Certificate student, please reach out to the CHIPS administrative team.

Two letters of recommendations are required from individuals who can speak to your academic or professional preparation and experience.

For applicants who are part of a training program, please include one letter of recommendation from your program director and one from a leader in quality and safety in your division/department.

*If you are a current HQS Certificate student, please reach out to the CHIPS administrative team.

Please notify your letter writers of the LoR deadline (same as application deadline).

  • Physician Fellows applications – 11/30/2023
  • All other applicants – 3/1/2024

There is a $75 application fee through the online application interface, which accepts credit cards.

Applicants who meet the admissions criteria will be interviewed by program faculty.

Applicants Must:

  • Have a minimim of a bachelor’s degree
  • Be working in a healthcare setting for at least 2 years
  • Live in the United States and be able to attend in person class session in the city of Philadelphia

Costs listed below reflect the 2023-2024 academic year for HQS courses per CU. The Certificate in Healthcare Quality & Safety is 4CUs total over the course of two academic years.
