Merit Scholarship for CHOP/ Penn Medicine Employees

CHIPS offers a limited number of Merit Scholarships for both the certificate and masters programs in Healthcare Quality & Safety. Students complete core courses, elective(s), and complete a mentored capstone QI project as part of the program. Masters students will also complete a Capstone II project and manuscript.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be CHOP or Penn Medicine employees. Faculty and trainees are not eligible.
- Applicants must plan to use their employee tuition benefit to offset the cost of tuition prior to the scholarship funding being utilized.
Scholarship
The Program offers merit-based scholarships that range from $1,500 to $8,500 to cover 1-2 credit units (CUs) per academic year for two years. The final scholarship dollars awarded are determined based on the awardee’s employee tuition benefits package. The student’s entire application including the quality of the personal statement, their work and school experience, and letters of recommendation will be considered when making awards. Preference will be given to those who will increase the diversity of the healthcare quality and safety workforce, including first generation learners.
Application
Merit Scholarships are evaluated by the Admission Committee during the application process. No additional essay or application is required to be considered. Applications should be submitted through the University’s online application platform here.

- CV
- Transcripts (for MHQS only)
- Letters of Recommendation (must be submitted from your letter writers via the online application system by March 1, 2024).
- Personal Statement: A one-page description of your career goals that includes a description of how the HQS program meets your educational objectives.
- A brief summary of your background and current role in healthcare
- A description of why you are interested in the program and how you feel the program could advance your professional career goals
- Consider sharing one or more examples of improvement opportunities in your environment that you would like to work on in the program (optional)
Timeline
All candidates will be notified of the decision by April 15, 2024.
