CHIPS Fellow Selected as Joan Grillo Adams Memorial Scholar in Quality & Patient Safety

 

On behalf of the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety, we are thrilled to announce that Srdjan (Serge) Gajic has been selected to receive the inaugural Joan Grillo Adams Memorial Scholarship in Quality & Patient Safety.

This scholarship is generously funded by the John Laurence Adams Family. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a resident or fellow seeking to obtain a Masters in Healthcare Quality and Safety at the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine while simultaneously working with us on important contributions to improve the quality & safety of our healthcare delivery system.

Dr. Srdjan (Serge) Gajic is a fellow in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology – Neurobiology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed Internal Medicine residency training at the University of California – San Francisco, where he co-led a hospital-wide quality improvement project focused on delirium care. At HUP, Dr. Gajic is currently leading a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at getting MICU patients extubated earlier in the day. He is currently enrolled in the Certificate for Healthcare Quality & Safety through the Center for Healthcare Improvement & Patient Safety at the Perelman School of Medicine and will continue in his studies by completing his Master degree in the field. He plans to pursue a career in Critical Care Medicine with an emphasis on quality improvement and patient safety.
