Description of Expertise

Neha Patel, MD, MS, is a professor of medicine and director of resident and student initiatives for the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety (CHIPS) at the Perelman School of Medicine.

She is the founding and ongoing co-director of the Healthcare Leadership in Quality Residency Track at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This track is designed to provide hands-on knowledge, skills and experiences in health care quality and patient safety for trainees. She has published numerous articles in the area of health care quality, patient safety, and medical education. 

Additionally, she is the Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer focused on health strategy and applications for the health care system. Her area of focus is to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care through the use of mobile devices.

Dr. Patel received a BS in Biology from Boston University. She received her medical degree from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania . She also received her Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety from Northwestern University.
