Concentration in Healthcare Quality and Safety

The Concentration in Healthcare Quality Improvement and Patient Safety is known locally as the “CHIPS Fellowship.” This two-year fellowship combines health services research and policy training with formal and experiential training in quality improvement and patient safety methods. This program prepares graduates for careers in health services research and health policy related to healthcare improvement in academic, government, and community settings and for leadership positions in healthcare quality and safety operations. Fellows are fully integrated into and have access to the resources of the institutional quality and safety community at the University of Pennsylvania Health System or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Graduates receive a Masters of Science in Health Policy Research (MSHP) from Penn with a concentration in health care quality and safety.
