Who Should Apply?

From the start, Penn CHIPS students are empowered to make a difference in improving healthcare quality, equity, and patient outcomes in their workplaces.

Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dentists, veterinarians, administrators, and other personnel who are looking for a broad introduction to healthcare quality and safety and to develop practical skills for leading improvements in the healthcare delivery system are encouraged to apply.

The Healthcare Quality & Safety Certificate program is ideal for individuals that seek knowledge and skills in quality improvement and patient safety, but not the time commitment of a masters program.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be working professionals in a healthcare setting, for at least two years, and be able to participate in on-campus courses and activities in Philadelphia. The program is not accepting international students at this time.
  • have at least a Bachelor’s degree

Applicants do not need prior formal quality improvement and patient safety training or experience.

“PennCHIPS provides access to an incredible community of thought leaders—from whom I learned a great deal about safe, reliable, effective, and equitable healthcare delivery. I am so grateful for the tangible skills and experience I gained from the CHIPS Program, as I believe these strengthened my candidacy for faculty jobs I applied to during my final year of clinical fellowship.” – Meghan Galligan, MD, MSHP, PennCHIPS Graduate
